OVERVIEW TOUR

A tour through all the forgotten gems of the Gjirokaster area, places untouched and sorrunded with mystery.

We strart at the heart of Gjirokaster the Bazaar (Also offer pick up).
First stop is Skotini cave, a hidden gem nestled near the city. The entrance itself is unassuming, blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings. However, as you step inside, you’re transported into a world of wonder and discovery. The interior of the Skotini Cave is a labyrinth of narrow passages, vast chambers, and breathtaking rock formations. Stalactites hang from the ceiling like shimmering icicles, while stalagmites rise majestically from the cave floor. The air is cool and damp, adding to the mysterious ambiance of the cave.
Second stop is Dhruvian village, a tranquil haven nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. Its cobblestone streets and traditional stone houses adorned with colorful flowers create a charming atmosphere.
The village’s main landmarks include the ancient Dhruvian Castle, a well-preserved medieval fortress offering panoramic views, and the Dhruvian Monastery, showcasing Albania’s religious heritage with intricate frescoes and serene courtyards.
Nature enthusiasts can explore the surrounding forests, hillsides, and streams, while cultural enthusiasts can enjoy traditional music and dance performances in the evenings. Local taverns offer authentic Albanian cuisine made from fresh, local ingredients, completing the immersive experience of Dhruvian Village’s unique blend of history, nature, and culture.
Third stop is lunch at a local tavern with delicious traditional dishes (not included).
After we’ve rested and with a full tummy we head to Kardhiq Castle, a historic fortress perched on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Its sturdy stone walls and towers reflect a blend of Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman influences. Visitors can explore winding pathways, ancient walls, and a central citadel while discovering remnants of historical artifacts. The castle’s strategic location and architectural grandeur provide insights into Albania’s rich past and cultural heritage
The tour ends where it started with a better understanding of Albania and especially the region.
