Nivicas Canyons , waterfalls & cultural insights

Starting from your accommodation we head to Tepelena, a small town in Southern Albania, well known for its rich history, and Ali Pasha’s castle overlooking the Vjosa Valley. We start climbing the famous Benca River deep Canyon, were an old stone aqueduct waits to be photographed as we climb the serpentine track on the slope of the mountain to reach Progonati’s Canyons. We reach the village by lunchtime were traditional dishes and organic food will be served and tasted. We take photos as we enjoy the fascinating view of the Canyons. We visit Nivica and the ancient castle. We hit an off road track to Golem on steep rocky terrain negotiating mountain slopes and narrow valleys until we reach the village. After a short break we drive down to Picar on a panoramic road among mountains and deep valleys till we reach Drino’valley. We enter the river and enjoy technical driving in its bed. As the sun sets we get back to Gjirokastra.
